Her company staged the home with new furniture to open it up and sure enough, there was a good offer in just one day.

“Our inventory is the lowest it’s been in 20 years when you adjust for new population influx,” said Cianco. “You’ve got to find the 85 percent house or the 85 percent spouse, if you find it, you’d better buy it, or you’d better marry them.”

DENVER – Metro Denver is the hottest home-buying market in the country, according to a ranking from Realtor.com released Monday.

Westlake Village, California-based Realtor.com takes several factors into consideration when determining the ranking, including supply and demand, the number of views per listing on its website and the median age of inventory in each market.

Denver was ranked in the No. 1 position in both May and April as well.

In a two-week span, Angela Engle made offers on five homes for her and her 4-year-old son.

She went 0-for-5.

“I definitely panicked when I put my original three bids in. I didn’t realize — I was expecting to get at least one or two back. I didn’t get any of them, and then I was like, ‘What is going on?’ ” said Engle, a single mother who moved to Colorado a year ago to work for a local health- insurance company and be closer to her son’s father.

Her real estate agent explained what was going on: Sellers had received more than a dozen bids in a matter of days, a nearly foregone conclusion in Denver’s last-man-standing, inventory-strapped housing market.
