Denver’s housing market may be crazy, but it is still possible to buy

In a two-week span, Angela Engle made offers on five homes for her and her 4-year-old son.
She went 0-for-5.
“I definitely panicked when I put my original three bids in. I didn’t realize — I was expecting to get at least one or two back. I didn’t get any of them, and then I was like, ‘What is going on?’ ” said Engle, a single mother who moved to Colorado a year ago to work for a local health- insurance company and be closer to her son’s father.
Her real estate agent explained what was going on: Sellers had received more than a dozen bids in a matter of days, a nearly foregone conclusion in Denver’s last-man-standing, inventory-strapped housing market.
